Just another Uberotaku.com weblog

Most people are out of the office this week, so I’ve been well and truly slacking. I’ve done no more than 3 hours of real work in the last 2 days combined. I did finally get my expenses in, so I’ll be getting a nice $5k pay check soon. I keep telling myself that I’ve more than earned my lazy time, but I know I’m going to regret this next year, when everything hits and I realise I should’ve done this and this and that back in December. Oh well. Sorry Future Me. Still not enough motivation to get moving.

This new WoW expansion is a curse. I’ve barely been watching anime. But I feel like I’ve been all busy, traveling and hanging out with my parents and coworkers. So I’ve been levelling slower than even the slow people are levelling. And whenever I have time to play I feel like I need to catch up. Bleargh. I’m just feeling particularly bleargh now cos I’m in a crappy zone that’s very unpretty and has lousy quests.

On the other hand, it’s nice to be playing with some of the old crew again. It’s pretty amazing how you can meet people in an MMORPG that become real friends. As in, not just friends In Real Life, but people you really regard as friends, that you keep in touch with even when one or both of you have stopped engaging in the activity that brought you together in the first place.  I mean, I’ve known some of these guys for 3 years now. That’s a pretty long time, no?

Unrelated, but I’m going to karaoke tomorrow with 3 Asian girls. It’s great cos this means it’ll be real Asian karaoke, not drunken American karaoke with crappy English songs. I hope they have a good J-pop selection. I’m all into J-pop now when it comes to karaoke, despite the fact that I barely listen to anything outside of anime OSTs. Apparently I know enough J-pop songs to fill an hour at karaoke with TJK! So excited.

Also, S introduced us to this restaurant near Chinatown, which my parents have acknowledged as the best dim sum they’ve had in the US. I completely agree. Most dim sum places are just ok for me and I’ve never been to one that I thought was outstanding, but this one was really nice (as opposed to your usual hole in the wall Chinese place) and the food was totally up to standard. I think the char siew so might have been the best char siew so I’ve ever had in my life. And I’m not a huge fan of ju chong fun (I dunno how to spell in cantonese! but I meant zhu chang fen if you didn’t get that) but the one here was really good. The chicken feet and egg tarts were also super good, but the xiao long baos were just ok.

I should update more often so I can fill my journal with the deep and meaningful thoughts I have everyday. Right now it’s all I can do to type up the mundane ongoings of my day to day life. And now I have to go shower so I can log on and do my cooking daily quest to get a Dalaran cooking award!
